A lot of customers like this for indoor plants as they discovered that in many cases they were overwatering! \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eTo measure pH though it requires an extra step. \u003cspan style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"\u003eThe soil MUST be soaking wet\u003c\/span\u003e, as in a muddy consistency. This gives the soil particles maximum contact with the probes which produces a tiny charge which moves the needle. \u003cbr\u003eThis device does NOT work in pure liquids like vinegar. It picks up the charge from the soil particles. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIt's important to note that the needle shouldn't do big swings (unless you have very alkaline or strongly acidic soil which in most cases will not be the case)\u003cbr\u003eThe needles starting position is 7 which is a neutral pH. \u003cbr\u003eLeave it in very wet soil for 1 minute and ensure the probes are all the way into the soil. \u003cbr\u003eYou may then see slow movement in either direction telling you whether you have alkaline or acidic soil, or hopefully neutral soil which is what most plants love. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eAlways clean off the probes after use. There is a scourer included in the pack to keep them free of corosion. Store the Soil pH\/moisture meter inside in between use. Retailers up in the hotter regions of Australia may still need to avoid that winter sun. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are vents on the top and customers often ask when to open and close them. If its a warm day, have the vents open, and on cool days close them up to conserve that warmth inside. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThis propagator is fairly large at 580mm x 330mm. Sometimes this same size propagator will be sold as a 72 cell by other suppliers. We found that the cell size when squeezing in 72 led to issues with seedling growth due to limited soil in the cell and overcrowding. \u003cbr\u003eOur version has larger cells (50x50mm), divided up into 6 cell punnets making it easy to have different varieties of seedlings at various stages of growth and hardening off.  The clear cells make it easy to check on the root growth below and know when they are strong enough to transplant into the garden. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe black base and clear dome of the propagator will give you multiple years of use. The 6 cell punnets are thinner plastic and can be used multiple times with a bit of care, but will need replacing at some point. The simple solution is to place your hand over the solar panel to simulate night time and then you will be able to see the blue light on or off. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCustomers sometimes position these in strange places. The device gets recharged by the solar panel so it needs to be in full sun.
